Experts on visualization techniques like authors: Marilee Zdenek: The Right-Brain Experience; Shakti Gawain: Creative Visualization and Napoleon Hill: Think & Grow Rich, suggest that as you repeat your affirmation, you change it from first person to saying it in the second person, and then to saying it again in the third person.

For example, using Napoleon Hill’s favorite affirmation dealing with adversity + defeat: “In every failure I can find and use the seed of an equal or greater success.”Napoleon Hill
1. First you would say:
“In every failure I, [insert your name], can find and use the seed of an equal or greater success. (or benefit)
2. Then you would restate it as: “In every failure you, [insert your name], can find and use the seed of an equal or greater success.” As you say this, think of it as being said by someone close to you who is encouraging you.
3. The third time you would say: “In every failure he/she, [insert your name], can find and use the seed of an equal or greater success.”
This time, as you say it, consider it being said by someone of authority whom you admire, and imagine them ‘praising you’.
